First Touch Football Canada continues to create direct pathways for Canadian athletes to reach the next level, with another major milestone coming out of the FTF Combine and Showcase Series.
Mekhi Baker, a standout player from Whitby FC, has officially committed to Gardner-Webb University Men’s Soccer, competing in NCAA Division I within the Big South Conference.
Mekhi’s journey highlights the impact of consistent exposure through FTF events. He participated in multiple key showcases, including the FTF x TFC All Star Game 2026, Toronto Winter Combine 2025, Top 60 Showcase 2025, and Toronto Winter Combine 2024 — all events attended by Gardner-Webb University Men’s Soccer staff.
Across these platforms, Mekhi demonstrated his ability to perform at a high level against top competition, separating himself through his athleticism, decision-making, and consistency. His performances not only captured the attention of NCAA programs but also led to national recognition, as he was recently ranked #22 in the 2026 graduating class.
The FTF platform is built to connect players directly with university and professional opportunities by placing them in front of verified coaches and scouts. Mekhi Baker’s commitment to Gardner-Webb University is a clear example of how the FTF Toronto Combine Series and Top 60 Showcase continue to bridge the gap between grassroots development and the NCAA pathway.
With events such as the FTF x TFC All Star Game, Toronto Winter Combine, and Top 60 Showcase, FTF Canada continues to elevate player visibility and create real outcomes for athletes across the country.
Mekhi Baker → Gardner-Webb University adds to the growing list of FTF athlete commitments, reinforcing the organization’s role in helping players advance to the next level both academically and athletically.
