FTF Canada continues to build strong pathways into U SPORTS, as Combine alumni Cillian Hughes has officially committed to the University of Guelph and the Guelph Gryphons men’s soccer program.
A product of Sigma FC, Hughes earned his opportunity through consistent high-level performances across multiple FTF Canada events, including the Top 60 Showcase 2025, Toronto Summer Combine 2025, and Toronto Winter Combine 2025. These events provided direct exposure to University of Guelph men’s soccer staff, who were in attendance identifying top prospects.
Hughes demonstrated his ability to compete against elite players in his class, showcasing his technical quality, consistency, and presence on the field. His performances led to direct recruitment interest from Guelph, ultimately securing his commitment. He was also recognized nationally with a #48 ranking in the 2026 Grad Class.
His commitment to the University of Guelph marks the next step in both his academic and athletic career, where he will compete in U SPORTS within Ontario University Athletics (OUA).
