Bio & Career

My name is Avery Comartin and I have played soccer since I was 4. I started playing for South Windsor Soccer and instantly had a passion for the game. By age 9, I switched to club soccer playing for Caboto. Being a Windsor area club/team, by the time I was U11, my team started to play in Michigan leagues (MYSL and MSPSP). When I was U12 I attended a 3-day camp at the University of Michigan. It was then I knew I wanted to be a college soccer player. As my skills and interest grew, I wanted to play at a more elite level. The best option for me was to join the US-based ECNL playing for Vardar. That was when I was U14. I have since played for Vardar in the US, traveling for practices 3-4 times a week across the border. In 2019-2020, I led the team in scoring and was listed as a “player to watch” by the ECNL that year. I also started for my senior/varsity high school team in my freshman year and led the team in scoring. However, due to COVID, I missed my sophomore year of high school soccer, and with the border closed, I did not compete with my Vardar team in 2020-2021. There will also not be high school soccer for my junior year. I did attend one showcase in 2021 with my team (Florida) and those games (3) were the only competitive games I have played in the last 14 months. To stay prepared during COVID, I trained virtually with Aaron Bryd (Michigan technical trainer), with Windsor area soccer trainers Stephen Ademolu and Leighton Speechley-Price. As well, in the summer/fall of 2020, I trained with the Tecumseh League1 Reserves team, the Eastside Kickers 03 team and a couple of other local teams. The Windsor area is getting it’s first League1 team in 2021, and have already spoken to the coach regarding playing for that team this summer. Finally, in my U14 season, I made it to the Provincial Projects stage of the Team Ontario tryouts.
