FTF Canada continues to support long-term player development and progression, as alumni Damola Akanni has completed his transfer to Queen’s University and the Queen’s Gaels men’s soccer program.
A product of Club Roma Soccer, Akanni has been part of the FTF Canada platform throughout his development, participating in the Vancouver Summer Combine 2021, Top 60 2021, and FTF x SA All-Star 2022, where Queen’s University staff were in attendance identifying talent.
Across these high-performance environments, Akanni consistently demonstrated his ability to compete against top players in his class. His continued growth and performances over time have contributed to his progression within the university system, ultimately leading to his move to Queen’s University.
His transfer marks the next step in both his academic and athletic journey, where he will compete in U SPORTS within the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) conference, one of the most competitive university soccer environments in Canada.
Akanni’s pathway highlights the long-term impact of FTF Canada’s event platform. Through early exposure at key showcases and sustained development opportunities, players are able to build pathways that support progression throughout their careers.
