The FTF Edmonton Regional Combine rolled into Bill Gilhespy Soccer Complex on Wednesday, July 1st to Friday, July 3rd – the second-last stop on our summer combine series, and the second-biggest combine in the country behind Toronto. With a strong turnout to match its stature, the event opened with a complete testing session, putting athletes through the 40-yard dash, 5-10-5 agility drill, fitness assessment, and vertical jump. From there, the spotlight shifted to competitive matchups, with players taking the field in front of college coaches scouting from across North America – every run and decision watched closely, both courtside and via livestream. It was another high-caliber showcase in a packed summer, and we’re excited to highlight the top performers below:
Overall MVP – Igor Krauze | CB | BTB | 2028 Grad
Igor Krauze is one of the standout center backs in the 2028 graduating class, bringing a dominant and commanding presence to the back line. He is confident in possession, capable of stepping into midfield and distributing effectively under pressure to help his team build from the back. Defensively, he is not afraid to get stuck into challenges and shows a strong willingness to compete in duels. Krauze’s blend of physicality, composure, and aggression makes him a top young defender with significant long-term potential.
Goalkeeper MVP – Mateo Reyes | GK | Calgary Southwest | 2029 Grad
Mateo Reyes is a goalkeeper with strong foundational habits and a mature approach to his position for his age group. He is confident coming off his line, showing good timing and awareness when dealing with through balls and crosses. Reyes also stands out for his very good distribution, helping his team build cleanly from the back and transition into attack. With his steady development and reliable skill set, he is a promising 2029 grad to monitor closely.
Defender MVP – Levi Cook | CB | Calgary Southwest | 2029 Grad
Levi Cook is a left-footed center back who stands out for his ability to play out of the back with composure and purpose. He is comfortable receiving under pressure and can progress play through passing or carrying the ball into midfield. Defensively, Cook brings strong athletic traits, allowing him to recover quickly, compete in duels, and cover ground effectively. His blend of technical quality and physical tools makes him an exciting 2029 graduate with clear long-term potential.
Midfielder MVP – George Sandy | CAM | BTB | 2028 Grad
George Sandy is a dynamic and tricky attacking midfielder/winger who thrives in 1v1 situations against defenders. He consistently looks to take players on, using quick feet and close control to create separation in the final third. Operating both centrally and out wide, Sandy provides versatility and unpredictability in attack. His confidence on the ball and ability to beat defenders make him a constant threat in advanced areas for BTB.
Attacker MVP – Maksym Pylypets | RW | West Canada | 2028 Grad
Maksym Pylypets is a direct and attacking-minded right winger who consistently looks to stretch defenses and attack space behind the back line. He plays with a clear nose for goal, getting into dangerous areas and finishing chances with confidence. His direct style makes him a constant threat in transition, especially when running at unsettled defenders. Pylypets’ combination of speed, intent, and goal-scoring instinct makes him an exciting attacking option in the 2028 graduating class.
