The Playbook: Scouting Report – Ontario vs Quebec Provincial Series

We had the opportunity to scout the highly anticipated Ontario vs Quebec Provincial Series, where top U15 and U17 selections from both provinces competed over three intense days of action. The matches showcased high-level talent, competitive spirit, and some of the brightest prospects in Canadian youth soccer.

Below is our list of standout performers from both divisions:

U15 BOYS

DEF – Taiyon Cambridge | 2028 Grad / 2010 Born – Ontario

Taiyon Cambridge is an explosive left back whose athleticism sets him apart. Relentless in his runs and intense in every duel, he covers the flank with an unmatched engine and a top-end burst of speed that makes him a constant threat in transition. But beyond his physical gifts, Taiyon brings a refined technical ability that allows him to beat defenders 1v1 and navigate out of tight spaces with ease. He’s not just solid defensively — he’s also an offensive spark plug, capable of unlocking plays with unexpected flair and creativity.

MID – Noah Horvat | 2028 Grad / 2010 Born – Ontario

Noah Horvat is a commanding defensive midfielder whose intelligence and vision make him the brain of his team. Acting as a deep-lying playmaker, he dictates the tempo with calm precision, effortlessly alternating between short combinations and long switches to stretch the field. Under pressure, his composure never wavers — he consistently finds the right solution to move play forward. Standing tall with a strong physical presence, Horvat combines tactical sharpness with athletic upside, offering both stability in front of the backline and a launching pad for offensive phases.

FWD – Yannick Baye | 2029 Grad / 2011 Born – Quebec

Yannick Baye is a dynamic and electrifying forward whose unpredictability makes him a nightmare for defenders. Gifted with rare agility and explosive athleticism, he consistently breaks free from double or even triple coverage, gliding past opponents with ease in 1v1 situations. His ability to attack space with power and precision adds another layer to his game, making him just as dangerous off the ball as he is on it. Comfortable and effective with both feet, Baye is untrackable — he can shoot, dribble, and create from any angle. Calm in front of goal and lethal with either foot, he brings a composed yet devastating edge to the final third.

U17 BOYS

FWD – Hugh McKee | 2027 Grad / 2009 Born – Ontario

Hugh McKee is a standout center forward from Ontario, known for his presence as a reliable target man and his sharp football IQ. With a strong yet mobile frame, he offers a valuable point of fixation up top, excelling in hold-up play and one-touch layoffs that keep the game flowing in the right direction. His ability to play at the right tempo, combined with precise link-up play, allows his teammates to thrive around him. Despite his size, McKee is deceptively explosive over his first few steps, creating separation quickly and unpredictably. What sets him apart is his creativity — he often finds solutions that others wouldn’t even consider, turning routine plays into genuine chances.

FWD – Alexander Makarova-George | 2027 Grad / 2009 Born – Quebec

Alexander Makarova-George is a clever and explosive forward who brings constant danger to opposing defenses. Agile and sharp on the ball, he can unbalance defenders with his creativity and refined dribbling, creating openings where there seemed to be none. But his impact goes beyond individual flair — off the ball, he works tirelessly, making smart runs, pressing with intent, and always putting himself in threatening positions. Unpredictable and relentless, Makarova-George is the kind of attacking presence that never gives defenders a moment of rest.

MID – Arthur Masson | 2026 Grad / 2008 Born – Quebec

Arthur Masson is a technically gifted box-to-box midfielder who excels at connecting play and dictating the rhythm of the game. Intelligent in possession, he makes those around him better by always offering himself as a reliable outlet and distributing the ball with precision. But beyond his role as a facilitator, Masson adds a layer of unpredictability — capable of carrying the ball forward with intent and breaking lines with a sudden burst. Equally valuable in build-up phases and in the final third, he contributes across all areas of the pitch, whether it’s setting the tempo deep or delivering the final ball near goal.
