U14 Girls Final:
The inaugural BCSPL Provincial Cup Final for the 2012 Girls age group did not disappoint, as it may have been the best football played all day, with both Pacific FC and Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC putting on a show. A cagey start to the match saw both teams defend opposing attacks excellently, as promising football did not lead to anything meaningful. CMFSC scored two in quick succession just before the half, and soon after the restart to take command of the match. However, Pacific FC pushed, scoring with 20 minutes remaining and creating chances throughout the remainder of the match, pushing CMFSC right to the very end.
Ainhoa Marquez | LW | Coquitlam Metro Ford SC | 2030 Grad
Marquez was the most electric player in the final, showcasing her immense talent, as she showed up in the biggest moments, both in and out of possession. She shifts her weight effortlessly, sending defenders the wrong way when receiving passes, spinning left or right and looking to either create 1v1 attacking opportunities in wide channels or connect with teammates through central zones. Marquez forces opponents to send multiple defenders towards her to stop any threat at goal, which created overload opportunities as she released the ball at the right moments for her teammates to drive forward.
Mila Mazzuca | ST | Coquitlam Metro Ford SC | 2030 Grad
Mazzuca is a very clever striker, looking to link up with midfielders to release teammates in behind and threaten the opposing goal. She poses a nightmare for defenders as she can drop in between the lines to pick up the ball deeper, where she can turn and find splitting passes to her teammates threatening the space in behind, or find tidy outlet passes to link the attack when faced with defenders getting tight. Don;t her height fool you, she is a massive goal threat in and around the box, as she scored an excellent header on the stroke of half time, finding space at the back post.
Danijela Panduri | CM | Coquitlam Metro Ford SC | 2030 Grad
Panduri had a stellar final and took part in some big moments for CMFSC during the final. She drove forward with the ball looking to create chances for herself or teammates, resulting in two first half assists. Panduriโs spacing was excellent, as she constantly found space to operate in a tightly connected midfield battle, as she received the ball on the half turn and looked to drive her team forward, while also managing to win the ball back through pressing at the right moments and breaking up play.. She is able to use both feet, as demonstrated with her assists, the first with her left foot and the second with her right.
Mackenzie Rendall | ST | Pacific FC | 2030 Grad
Rendall is a force up top and can affect the game using her athleticism or intelligence. Sheโs got great size, speed, and strength, combined with tidy technique and well-timed movement, forcing defenders to continually guess as to what sheโll do next. Rendall can hold up the play and link with teammates, while also looking for the right moments to threaten the space in behind. She is tidy in possession and usually chooses the right moments to find a teammate or take on the defender.
Tatum Mark | CM | Pacific FC | 2030 Grad
Mark is the pendulum that not only kept Pacific FC ticking in possession, but drove every attack they created throughout the final. She grew into the game adapting and finding more space as the game went on. Mark looks to find space in between the lines of the opponent and can pass her way through pressure or drive at the backline to create overload situations. Her constant ability to find pockets, created havoc and chances for Pacific FC to try and capitalize on.
Eva Miguel | RW | Pacific FC | 2030 Grad
Miguel is a quick and shift winger that looks to create space and attack her opponents at speed. She looks to change up where she receives the ball, as she can stretch defences by running in beyond, receiving to her feet in wide positions to create space to attack a defender 1v1, or receive the ball on an inside channel to connect with teammates. Miguel thrives in 1v1 opportunities, but she also poses an equally daunting threat with her passing ability, as she only needs a small window to find teammates in good spaces to attack the opposing goal.
